Project Life Week 8

Week 8 wasn't very exciting in our house. It should have been because it was school vacation week. Unfortunately for me, Jake was busy almost every day but it was always somewhere else! How am I supposed to take pictures of that? My daughter was a little bit lazier because a lot of her friends were out of town. One of the best things we did was go to Roller Kingdom to try roller skating/blading. Brought back a lot of my happy, 80's, memories!

Sorry about the big shadow in the middle of the layout! I was trying to use natural light and I guess I got the big shadow.
This week it extremely bright and colorful. Perfect for the Amy Tangerine, "Yes Please" line. I used it quite a bit, along with some of the Becky Higgins "Clementine" Project Life and some cards from the Michael's version of the Pebbles cards.

This page is the perfect example of why I don't purge anything...look at the letter stickers on the top right card. They are from Doodlebug and they are VERY old! Everything comes back in some way and I would have thought they would be too "cutesy" for my current taste but whatever works right?

The balsa wood cards from Amy Tangerine are a new favorite of mine. They are so light weight and are just the right touch for some dimension without too much bulk.
Thanks for looking! See you next week (if not sooner).

Project Life new week

Here is another week done for Project Life...not sure what week this is? Maybe week 8? Either way it is the week with Valentine's Day in it. I finally got my first Citrus Twist Project Life kit. I didn't use all of it but I definitely used some of it. I really love it. I had also gotten some new things from the Amy Tangerine "Yes Please" line and I am SO in love with it.

You can see that this week it was all about the bright colors. Mainly because I wanted to emphasize 2 things. The crayon art that my daughter made and the yellow tulips from my DH on Valentine's Day. They are one of my favorite flowers and I love that he brought home some white ones for our daughter. What a sweetie!

Here is the left facing page
The doilies and the 3x4 cards came from the Citrus Twist kit and the papers came from the Studio Calico paper pack that was included and from the Amy Tangerine "Yes Dear" line. I've started playing with some collage apps on my iphone and I like how they came out.

Here is the right facing page
On it's own you wouldn't think that these two pages would work together but somehow they do. I think using the red and the yellow on both really brings them together.
I'm officially in love with all things wood veneer and can't seem to get enough.
Thanks for looking!

6x6 square pages for project life "like" album

Here are some samples of pages using the 4 6x6 square page protectors. It's not part of my project life album but part of a travel album that I'm working on. The first one isn't done but I've printed the pictures into 6x6 shape.

Catching up with Project Life

It's been quite a while since I've been on the blog but I've decided to do Project Life this year. Unfortunately I decided after the year had started and spent a few weeks gathering supplies. I bought the Becky Higgins Seafoam and Cherry editions and then did some trading to get parts of Clementine and Olive. To be honest, I haven't used too many of them yet..I seem to really like the cards from Pebbles and some things I've either made myself or downloaded. I also got the Sn@p collection for Christmas and will start getting the Citrus Twist PL kit starting with the February set. I think I really like the shopping the most! (I promise to get better at photographing the layouts!)

Here is my cover page...still need to edit it a little...I copied the "hello 2013" from someone online and I wish I could remember so I could credit them!
Next is really week 3 or 4 of the year but I just called in "January". The color on my "week in review" card is wrong so I will probably re-do that but for now it stays.
My next week has an insert from a chorus/band concert at the school...I'm including both sides of the layout.

My last page (so far) is this current week...I had so many other pages but the Blizzard was really the highlight of the week so it took up the majority of the pages. It kind of shut down the area so some other things never happened. I'm considering adding pages in between the cover page and the first week that I did that includes some generic things about the people in my family to compare it to what things are like at the end of the year...We'll see!
Thanks for looking!!

Authentique September Color Challenge

This month the challenge was to use the colors; Almond, Pumpkin and Licorice. That just screams Halloween to me. Since I have been wanting to make a new wreath for my door I decided that is what I would create for this challenge.

I'm really glad that this year's Halloween inspired paper coordinates beautifully with last year's line since I really love some of the papers from each line. I used both the "Enchanted" and the "Glowing" lines. This cone wreath was so easy to create and took very little time.

Layout Club with Authentique

This month in layout club, our kit contained some paper from Authentique's line "LIVELY". It's beautiful paper. I hadn't already bought it because there is a lot of pink in the line and my daughter hasn't worn pink since the 2nd grade! Makes it challenging. I underestimated how versatile this paper really is. The browns and greens are beautiful shades that match so much.

Inspiration Color Challenge

Authentique August Color Challenge

here is my take on the August color challenge. I'm sure it was intended for their line "Curiosity" but I didn't have any of that so I decided to improvise. I used paper from the "Genuine" line. I also decided to use my new Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Pewter. Love this stuff...it goes on so smoothly.
